About Essential Oils

What is an essential oil?

We have been benefiting from the use of aromatic plants for thousand of years, from medicine to luxurious baths . The use of essential oils can be traced back to Persia through the work of Ibn Sina or also known as Avicenna, who outlined his medical work, recipes, procedures and distillation of essential oils through books. Then, René Gattefossé, a French perfumer and chemist, coined the term "aromatherapy" in 1937, to describe the therapeutic use of essential oils. The story goes that he burned his hand and quickly plunged it into the essential oil of lavender to serendipitously discover that the pain was quickly relieved. Since then the use of essential oils has grown quite significantly. We are now rediscovering the power of this ancient art and hope to demystify essential oils for you.
